Athletics Oust Braves in 5

The St. Catharines A's finished off the KW Braves tonight in game 5 of there best of 7 first round series, by a score of 8-4. KW didnt really do much to stave off elimintaion in this one, it looked as if only Scott Tinning really did anything tonight for them other then there goalie who played great as usual, if not for Evan Kirk the score may have been much more in favour of St Catharines then it was. Andrew Potter lead St Catharines in scoring tonight with 1 goal and 4 assists. Scott Tinning led the Braves with 3 goals and 1 assist.  St Catharines will now wait an see who else pulls through there 1st round series, to decide who they will square off with in round 2.

Game 5

July 20th 2008

Tonight Game 5 takes place at the Tony Rose Memorial in Orangeville, Ontario. The Northmen hold the 3 games to 1 lead in the series, but the Excelsiors have shown they can play with the Northmen, all you have to do is look at there game 3 victory in Orangeville.

For the Excelsiors to have a chance in this game there gonna need another solid goaltending preformance from Tyler Carlson, Carlson finished 3rd in the league with a 5.75 GAA. The Excelsiors are also gonna need big games up front from there goal scores, JJ Laforet, Dylan Evans, Jordan Coffey and Garrett Ince. The defense has been doing there part in this series so now its time for the offense to step up an with them a game.

On the other side for Orangeville to close out this series all they have to do is play Northmen ball an get another solid effort in net from Nick Rose. If Orageville stays out of the stupid stuff an plays the Excelsiors 5on5 all game you would have to think the Excelsiors have little to no chance at winning this game. All the hype in this series has been about the Suitor vs Smith scarps which has taken away from some dominating preformances from snipers Adam Jones and Matt McLeod. Adam Jones has posted 4 straight 3 or more point games, were as Mcleod has almost equalled that task posting 2 games with 4 or more points. The Northmen's firepower is to strong for any team to handle, look for the Northmen to close it out tonight in Orangeville and if that is the case tonight will probabley see another Smith vs Suitor Scrap by games end.
